Job Title: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Job Overview

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will be a key member of the executive management team, responsible for overseeing the bank’s financial strategy, planning, and operations. The CFO will ensure effective financial management, regulatory compliance, risk control, and sustainable profitability while supporting strategic decision-making and growth initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
  •  Oversee all aspects of financial operations, including accounting, treasury, tax, audit, and procurement.
  • Ensure compliance with CBN regulations, tax laws, and all financial statutory requirements.
  • Develop financial performance metrics, identify risks, and recommend strategies for risk mitigation.
  • Liaise with external auditors, regulators, and stakeholders on financial matters.
  •  Prepare and present timely financial reports and updates to the Board and executive leadership.
  • Manage capital adequacy, liquidity, and investment portfolios in line with industry standards.
  • Support new product development and business expansion from a financial viability perspective.
  • Lead, train, and motivate the finance and accounting team to ensure high performance.
Requirements & Qualifications
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related field.
  • A Master’s degree or MBA is an added advantage.
  • Professional certification such as ICAN, ACCA, or CFA is mandatory.
  • Minimum of 8–10 years relevant experience, with at least 5 years in a senior finance role in a regulated financial institution (preferably microfinance or commercial bank).
  • Deep understanding of financial reporting standards, CBN regulatory framework, and microfinance banking operations.
  • Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Proficient in financial software and digital tools relevant to banking operations.
