Job Overview
The Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports,
reconciling accounts, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and internal policies.
The ideal candidate must be analytical, tech-savvy, and conversant with financial operations in a
regulated financial institution.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain proper and up-to-date accounting records in line with regulatory and internal requirements.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and statements.
- Reconcile bank statements, loan accounts, and general ledger entries.
- Support the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial planning.
- Ensure timely remittance of statutory deductions and taxes (e.g., VAT, PAYE, Pension).
- Assist with internal and external audits and ensure timely resolution of audit issues.
- Monitor and report on the financial health of the bank, ensuring accuracy and transparency.
- Ensure compliance with CBN regulations, IFRS standards, and relevant financial policies.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
- Professional certification, such as ICAN or ACCA (in progress or completed), is an added advantage..
- Minimum of 5 years accounting experience, preferably in the banking or financial services sector.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, and regulatory compliance.
- Proficiency in accounting software.
- Excellent attention to detail, integrity, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Solid knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office tools.
